The third eye is known as the portal to higher consciousness. In western traditions, Its known as inner eye. In mystical concept , its called 'ajna' chakra. In Buddhism, Third eye is a symbol of enlightenment or eye of knowledge. In asian countries, There is always a mark on the forehead of deities and other enlightened beings. Hindus place a tilak (mark) between the eyebrows as a representation of the third eye.

In Medical Science , It is mentioned that there are pituitary and the pineal gland in forehead, which have become emaciated. But it is believed that, a man can possess the ability of clairvoyance by connecting these glands with nervous system.

Activation of third eye is possible with the help of meditation. Meditation can teach us keeping our mind calm and help us relax, after mastering the mediation and achieving inner peace, mind opens to all new possibilities and one is believed to have sixth sense.
